Hey guys. The new prompt set is up! Enjoy!

I have a question for you guys. [personal profile] fannyfae and I were discussing adding a new section to the prompt sets. We were thinking about adding either a section based on runes or based on tarot cards. Let me know whether you guys like the idea and which one you might like! I've put an example of both below the cut.

The rune prompts would be based on the Elder Futhark. I would post one rune with each prompt set along with its meaning and a list of writing suggestions based on the rune, and we would progress through the entire Elder Futhark. For example:

The Writer's Way: Writers are famous for using the usual tools and sometimes some very unusual ones. There may be no better brainstorming device than runes. With runes, you can introduce a character, a scene, create an obstacle, or move a story along. This week, I am going to start with the first rune of the Elder Futhark, fehu. Fehu means cattle, money, or wealth. Fehu meant cattle to the ancient Germanic tribes, a measure of a man's wealth and good luck. But, be careful. Fehu is also a warning against greed. The greedy accumulation of wealth sows discord even amongst kinsmen.

Fehu

Some ideas to write about:

A fresh start
A time of prosperity
Achieving a goal
Gaining or losing wealth
Good luck
Greed
Failure
A time of poverty
A bitter end

For those that have come from [community profile] writers_muses , the tarot prompts are the same ones posted there, inspired by Corrine Kenner's, "Tarot for Writers". I would post one tarot card with each prompt set, along with writing suggestions based on the tarot card, and we would progress through the whole deck. For example:

The Writer's Way: Writers are famous for using the usual tools and sometimes some very unusual ones. Metaphysical author, Corrine Kenner says in her book, "Tarot for Writers" that there is perhaps no better brainstorming device for writers than a deck of tarot cards. This may be true. With the cards you can assemble a cast of characters, open a scene, create an obstacle and move a story along. This week I am going to start by using the Major Arcana with some additional prompts that are inspired by the Tarot. Each card listed for each week will also be hot linked to the card itself. I will mainly use the Rider-Waite Smith deck for its traditional symbolism, but will also link to other decks that may be of interest.

0 - The Fool

Might I suggest alternating the runes with the tarot?

A very good suggestion. I think my intention with this particular line of thought was to look at things like Tarot, Runes and other forms of Divination, for example, to hserve as jumping off points and ways for the writers to tap into their muses' etc.

In short, we can do whatever we want. ;)
